This tour takes you to all the temples devoted to Navagraha- the nine major celestial bodies of Hindu astronomy - from Thiruvangadu Bhudan Temple to  Thingallur-Chandran temple, the divine Suriyanaar Temple, the famous Kanjanur Sukran Temple and other vital temples around the Navagraha circuit.

Tanjore: Prananathar Mangalambigai Temple, Thingallur-Chandran temple.

Itinerary


DAY 1 : Chennai - Vaitheeswaram

Arrive Vaitheeswaram. Upon arrival check into the hotel and proceed to visit Thiruvangadu Bhudan Temple. Considered as the greatest among the wise, this Devata bestows wisdom and wealth on his devotees. Next, visit Kezhaperumpallam Kethu Temple. Kethu brings prosperity to the devotee’s family, removes the effect of snakebite and illness arising out of poisonous matter entering one’s body. He grants good health, wealth, cattle and around prosperity. The rest of the day is kept at leisure. Overnight stay at hotel in Vaitheeswaram.

DAY 2 : Vaitheeswaram - Kumbakonam

Visit Vaitheeswaran Temple early in the morning. A prayer to this god frees one from debts, poverty, and illness afflicting the skin. Loss of eyesight can be restored by a prayer to the Vaitheeswaranar. Get back to hotel for breakfast and later, check out and start to drive to Kumbakonam. En-route visit Thirunallaru-Shani Temple. This temple is an exclusive one for Sanischara in Tamil Nadu. A prayer to this Devata, especially on Saturdays, is said to mitigate the hardships one will have to face during the Shani periods. Upon arrival in Kumbakonam, check into the hotel and proceed to Thirunageswaran-Rahu Temple. Rahu is instrumental in strengthening one’s power and converting even an enemy into a friend. Next, proceed to visit the Uppiliappan temple. Proceed to Alangudi-Guru Temple. Worship of this Devata results in a cure from ailments affecting the stomach and helps one to ward off his sins, helps him in gaining strength, valour, longevity, etc. He grants the boon of fatherhood to the childless, good education. Have the remaining day at leisure. Overnight stay at hotel in Kumbakonam.

DAY 3 : Kumbakonam - Tanjore - Chennai

After breakfast check out from hotel and proceed to visit the Kanjanur - Sukran Temple. The Sukra is the bestower of long life, wealth, happiness, children, property, and good education. He blesses the devotee with the power to control one’s Indritas(Sense organs) and enables the devotee to obtain fame and name. Proceed to Suriyanaar Suriyan Temple, popularly known as Suryanar-Koil is about 3 km from Aduturai railway station on the main line (Southern Railway) from Chennai to Thanjavur. Proceed to visit Prananathar Mangalambigai Temple and Sarangapani Temple. Finally your last stop for the day is Thingallur-Chandran Temple, which is said to be beneficial for relief from all sorrows, helps in curing mental afflictions and Tuberculosis. Drive back to Chennai. Tour ends.

The importance given to these Navagrahas can be seen from the fact that there are temples dedicated to each one of the grahas in Thanjavur District, Tamil Nadu. These temples are said to be the Navagraha Khestras to Lord Mahalingeshwara, at Madhyarjunam Tiruvidaimarudur. There are Navagraha Shrines in every temple, for the benefit of the devotee as also for the nation. There are also other temples whose prime deity is considered as yajamana of a particular planet Moon - Tirupati, Mars- pazhani, Mercury - Madurai, Jupiter- Tiruchendur, Venus-srirangam, Rahu&Ketu- Kalahasthi.
