Arrival in Bagdogra Airport, meet our representative and transfers you to the cab that is all set to zoom the hairpin bends of Darjeeling, a 4 hour drive in which your eyes are not bound to blink as you get drifted away by the green slopes, misty hills and tea gardens permitting you into the Garden of Eden and being home to the admired World Heritage Train- The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR). Perch yourself at the hotel and shop at the Mall Road in the evening. Dinner and Overnight stay at Hotel.
‘An early bird catches the worm’ as the saying goes this day rouses you from your deep sleep to catch the sunrise at Tiger Hills at around 03:45 AM. Patience is a needed tool you need to carry it along as the clouds play with the sun testing you with your eagerness. Once the rays have spread its warmth, take a drive to the Ghoom Monastery, Peace Memorial and Batasia Loop. Head straight to your hotel to beat your morning hunger and then return for the next round of sightseeing that includes the rarest species of the Padmaja Naidu Zoological, discover the huge collection of fauna at the Natural History Museum and visit the institution of training mountaineers, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (Closed on Thursdays). Then take a turn to the Tenzing rock transforming you as a mountaineer, then the Gumpo Rock, Tea Estate that entangles you with its scent and finally proceeds to the Peace Pagoda that focuses on a unity strategy of all races. The day ends with a good rest at your hotel for the night.
Excursion to Mirik (Full Day) - The day boosts you with a morning meal and you start off on an excursion to Mirik which is located 60 km from Darjeeling. Being a small town it is surrounded by tea gardens, orange orchards, cardamom groves and amazing views of the hills. Lake Sumendu offers you boating facilities where you can sense the tranquil ambience in the waters. Horse riding is also another activity that pulls up the quest mode on. Evening calls for a shopping expedition and dusk invites you to sleep at your hotel in Darjeeling.
This day is a calling for Kalimpong where the birds of Darjeeling wake you up and with your breakfast on you drive for about 65 kilometres and there you are to venture into your goal of the day. A historical destination with the hustle bustle markets, you check-in at your hotel and then your tour of the day begins with the Forest Museum ( Closed on Thursdays), Deolo Hill exposes its veiled beauty, Hanuman Mandir, Dr. Graham Homes, Durbin Monastery, Mangaldham, Pine view nurseries that showcases the only cactus. Finally, take a turn to your hotel for the night.
Set off from Kalimpong to Gangtok as usual with your breakfast driving for about two hours among rugged roads that open the gates to the beautiful state of Sikkim where you’re first directed to the Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom then to the Research Institute of Tibetology that holds the Tibetan culture and history. Then you are taken to the jewels of Buddhism the Do Drul Chorten and Enchey Monastery. The day ends with a visit to the White Hall and Flower Show with your return to your hotel and bed for the night at Gangtok.
This day is a full excursion to Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir that lies 40 km of Gangtok circling the Kyongnosla Alpine Sanctuary, home to red pandas and alpine trees. On reaching Tsomgo lake the sight of it sends enticing joy around offering you Yak rides and trying out the traditional outfits of Sikkim around the lake. There you can experience the highest ropeway ride in Asia that gets you to a heavenly atmosphere of low temperatures. After a good time at the lake, you’re at Baba Mandir, a spiritual place for all. The evening is for shopping and when dusk is done right it is time to get back to your hotel for the night.
After the usual routine of filling up your tummies, it is time to transfer to Bagdogra airport where the flight arrives to take you home.
Darjeeling
